Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed taxi touts inside Las Américas terminal quote inflated flat fares to tourist districts. Insist on using the official taxi dispatch desk just outside customs where fares are set by zone.
Baggage porters at the carousel may aggressively grab bags and then demand excessive tips. Keep luggage in sight and politely decline assistance unless you specifically requested it.
Currency-exchange booths inside the terminal advertise 'no commission' but bury a poor rate in the fine print. Compare the offered rate against the mid-market rate on your phone or wait to use an ATM in town.
